Free Scholarship for Ethiopian students in Australia
Funded by the Australian government’s department of foreign affairs & trade, the Australian Awards is the cornerstone of the Australian Government’s development assistance program for Africa. It provides access to postgraduate education, training and professional development opportunities for suitably qualified Africans from eligible countries. On their return to the workplace, Australia Awards Alumni are expected to contribute to the development of their home countries – Free Scholarship for Ethiopian students in Australia
These short courses are available for professionals in specialized fields from eligible African countries. Short Courses offer opportunities for short-term post-graduate training delivered in Australia and/or in Africa for up to six weeks. The training targets experienced employees from African public, private and civil society organizations in the following fields: agriculture, extractives, and public policy.
Who Can Apply for the Scholarship
Ethiopia is one of the eligible African countries for the Short course Award. You have to have a minimum of four years’ bachelor’s degree or equivalent and must be Mid-level to senior-level professional, currently employed in a relevant field. And you have to demonstrate a clear vision of how the knowledge gained through the scholarship will be used to improve policy, practice or reform in your home country, also you need to meet the relevant post-graduate work experience and the following;
Satisfactory English proficiency to enable full participation in a training course delivered in English.
All studies undertaken under Australia Awards are in English and, for postgraduate studies at an Australian University, a high level of English proficiency is required. Language proficiency is tested through the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), an internationally recognized practical English language assessment used by those seeking international education. Alternatively, candidates requiring evidence of English language proficiency may also use Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results. If you are submitting IELTS or TOEFL scores with your application, they should not be more than one year old at the time you make your application.
Satisfy all requirements of the Australian Government for the appropriate student visa
In order to take up the award, Australia Awards Short Course candidates, the Australian Government (and in some cases African governments) must issue candidates with an appropriate student visa.
What are the Application and Selection Process
Australia Awards Short Course applicants are not required to attend an interview as part of the selection process. However, applicants and their employers may be contacted by phone to verify claims made in the application, including questions regarding current employment status. Australia Awards Short Courses are delivered by approved training providers, contracted to deliver the specific courses for which applicants are selected. It is not possible for these participants to nominate their preferred institution.
What benefits can you expect
You will have an Australian educational experience, with Fully paid tuition fees, visa fee expenses, a contribution of living expenses for the duration of the scholarship and fully paid accommodation.
